Masseria Bonelli, located in the heart of a very large wood, belonged in 1599 to the Capitolo dei Canonici after the donation of the pious Silvia Saraceno. Later the house passed to family De Tintis and in 1628 was brought by the count of Conversano, Giangirolamo Acquaviva.
The Masseria includes three downstairs rooms, a large entrance door with an atrium leading up to a jutting loggia and three upstairs rooms, a large stable, a church and other rural rooms. Annexed to the house pieces of land surrounded by walls or completely open with vineyards, wells, palms, pigsty, farmyard and rural rooms.
In 1806 the land registry of the town Noci registered that 822 tomoli and 7 stoppelli (ancient local unit of measurement) belonged to count Giovanni Girolamo Acquaviva d’Aragona.
In 1813 Gaetano Murnena from Naples, who gave credit to the count, obtained the seizure of the land. The count paid his debt but was soon surrounded by new creditors: the Masseria became propriety of the Town Hall of Castellana and was sold by auction.
In 1859 the house was knocked down by an association of eighteen landowners, organized by historian Pietro Gioja, who finally sold it again to the Town of Noci.
At the end of the 19th Century the surrounding area was deforested and the house divided into twenty-two sections and given to the poorest inhabitants of Noci.
Abandoned for many years, in 1998 the house was brought by mr Vito Passaro, who, after a long and careful restoration, transformed it in a typical and elegant resort.
